Productivity Compensation:

Production compensation is determined by comparison to market survey data and is reviewed annually.

  • Production compensation is calculated by multiplying wRVUs by the current conversion factor:
    • wRVUs:  2023 CMS wRVU values
  • For the Plan Year 2023, wRVUs will be tabulated based on Post Date.

  • Compensation true-ups will occur semi-annually after 2nd and 4th quarters of 2023. At the conclusion of 2nd quarter, providers will have the option to elect a partial payout of 50% of production compensation earned in excess of draw, or have payment deferred until the end of the year. The 4th quarter payout will be the remaining balance (2023 production compensation earnings less draw, and less any 2nd quarter payout).

  • Any year-end negative balances and repayment options will be handled on a case-by-case basis.

 Vacation and CME Days:

  1. While on Salary Guarantee - Rheumatologists who are on salary guarantee receive six (6) weeks’ vacation as part of their compensation, prorated based on FTE and start date. In addition, Physicians are eligible for up to five (5) CME days.
  2. While on Productivity - Rheumatologists who are on the production compensation program qualify for six (6) weeks of unpaid time away from work for a 1.0 FTE, prorated for FTE and start date. While this time is uncompensated, it is considered time scheduled off. In addition, Physicians who are on full production will receive wRVU credit for up to five (5) CME days.

For Physicians on Salary Guarantee and on Production, a “week” is equivalent to the same number of days scheduled to work each calendar week (e..=,g. 6 weeks x 4 shifts/week = 24 shifts/year).  There is no carryover of unused time from year to year and no payout at termination of employment or transition to production.

Holiday Pay:

  1. While on Salary Guarantee - Rheumatologists who are on salary guarantee, receive six (6) paid holidays (New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas Day).  Holiday hours paid will be prorated based on FTE.
  2. While on Productivity - Rheumatologists who are on the production compensation program are not eligible for holiday pay.

 Provider Training/CME Funds:

Rheumatologists (0.5 FTE and above) are eligible for $4,000 annually to cover CME expenses.  The CME funds for physicians below a 0.5 FTE are prorated based on FTE.
