Practice Details

  • Seeking a BE/BC Endocrinologist due to a strong community need and to support the hospital’s medical staff.
  • 100% Outpatient Position – opportunity to do hospital consults, if desired.
  • For years, the endocrinology responsibilities have been handled by the University of Kentucky who developed a successful and busy weekly practice but is not integrated into the local medical community.
  • The endocrinologist will be based in our Specialty Center, located a half block from the medical center. Our specialty center is a shared facility serving the patient care for cardiology, pulmonology, and endocrinology.
  • There is no competing practice within 35 miles of Danville.
  • The hospital has two CDE staff and a diabetes education program.
  • This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated physician who is willing to commit to building the region’s top endocrine and metabolic disease practice.

About Employer:

  • A comprehensive 222-bed acute care medical center located in Danville, Kentucky- a town of approximately 28,000 people located in the Bluegrass Region of Kentucky, home to Centre College and is about 30 minutes from Lexington.
  • The hospital is a Level 3 trauma center that sees 30,000 ED visits annually.
  • The hospital has over 100 physicians on medical staff representing 30 different specialties.
  • Robust Hospitalist group that covers in-patient coverage for those physicians who want to focus on 100% out-patient medicine.

  • From coffee and a fresh-baked treat from Burke’s Bakery. Enjoy an organic smoothie at Shake It. Have a carefully curated teatime cup at Elmwood Inn Tea Shop. Then settle in for dinner with a touch of local Wilderness Trail Distillery bourbon at Copper and Oak in a signature cocktail.

Top Five Things to Do

  1. Immerse yourself in the remarkable and unexpected history in the "City of First".  The first Capital of Kentucky (1785), the first US Post Office west of the Alleghenies (1792) and the famed Dr. Ephraim McDowell was the first in the world to successfully remove an ovarian tumor in 1809.
  2. The Bourbon drinker will appreciate being located midway between Lexington and Louisville as locals like to call the Kentucky Bourbon Trail with each distillery within 90 miles.
  3. Come join the parties throughout the year as Danville and Boyle Country celebrate anything and everything including live brass band music, barbecue, rural heritage and history, the American Civil War, and more.
  4. Paint you face blue and white and head to watch the country's best collegiate Kentucky Wildcats basketball or wear your favorite red and black to cheer for University of Louisville football on the weekends less than 90 miles away.
  5. Stroll downtown on Main Street where you can spend a leisurely day shopping in many of our beautiful shops featuring local artists, jewelry, clothing, primitives and fine teas or confections. Next, head over to Perryville to find a treasure trove of antiques and one-of-a-kind finds.
